Oh, I'm not in Marietta. I wish I was in Marietta. I would be far, far away from this neighborhood. No, I'm in Henry County, the redneck, south side of Atlanta, home of the Atlanta Motor Speedway, endless strip malls (a nail salon & dry cleaner in every one), the mullet, and not much else.

Yeah, I'm a little crabby today. The sun brought the neighborhood kids outside & inspired them to take up beating on my fence and house again. They haven't done that in awhile. I guess they decided to take it up again because I didn't have candy on Halloween. Like I'd ever waste money or decent chocolate on them, not to mention reward them for the way they treat me the other 364 days a year.

My maillady is afraid of the dogs. She always drops my boxes and runs from the big, bad chihuahua and cocker spaniel. I doubt I could get her to come to the door any other time. I couldn't leave it next to the box at the street or even in the box too long. Remember the brats around here like to take my stuff out of the box, replace it with dog feces, and throw what was in the box in the middle of the street.

Sure, messing with the mail is a crime, but you get a free pass in this county on everything but murder if you're a kid.

I used to write refuse on it, but I wasn't sure with all the 9/11 changes if you could do that anymore. Like now there's a weight limit on what you can put in one of the blue boxes because they're scared of bombs. Even with prepaid postage, if it's over a certain weight, you have to hand it to the carrier or go to the PO. Plus, this was $54. I wanted confirmation that it made it back to them.

I didn't know there was any alternative to autoship. I'll have to check that out. I wouldn't be surprised if I call and threaten to cancel that they'd offer it. You only get good offers when you want to leave.

to your postal carrier, that's legal.

or do as I do, and deposit them in a post box for their return.
don't do the dance anymore. that only makes them happy.
trust me, they get paid enough; to be stupid and meanspirited.

I put all my properly stamped mail behind my mailbox on my porch and let the mail carrier take it with her. she earns her holiday gift that way. :)
besides they come to your door for service, so let them do it,
give you some Service ;)

obtw, always return the books - by their cost, not yours - say refused and put on them unordered, return to sender.

that way you save your dollars. proof that you didn't order.
also contact them and ask them to remove you from auto shipping
and put you on selection by list only - when you select, not them.
I had to do that myself to the cooking bookclub - when they sent me

Well, calling between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.--prime time for my TV watching--is the topic of an entirely different memo. That one will have to be addressed to my nephew, who has a knack for interrupting all my must see shows, usually so he can try to get me to switch to Animal Planet or Cartoon Network and watch whatever he's watching. My sister is usually out doing whatever it is she does at night during that time so that memo wouldn't go to her.

Before I looked at caller ID, I thought it was going to be the apartment that I lived at five and half years ago. For the longest time after I moved into my house, I would get calls from people who were at the gate and wanted in, despite the fact that I no longer lived there and technically shouldn't have been listed in the gate's database. Talk about security.

I haven't gotten one of those calls in awhile, but hearing the phone ring, that was my first thought. The second was, "Who died?" Turns out all it was my nephew asking me on behalf of my sister if I thought the world was going to end.

She was in the background though telling him what to say. I know this because he kept putting me on hold, and I could hear her mumbling (hence, the rocks) and him saying, "What?". Trust me. I would have been a lot more...uh...colorful if she had actually been the one on there.

I agree it's late. I know it's Halloween & a weekend, but it would seem to me that kids would get up better on weekdays if they went to bed at the same time on weekends. Then again, what do I know? I just have dogs.
