Never mind. Looks like you still have Echo Free because your form looks like mine. Are they ever going to email us that we have to pay the $12 I wonder?

The only reason I know anything about the $12 is Get Satisfaction. What if you never visit there?

Can I just say I really miss the old JS-Kit? I understand where they're coming from with Echo, but I rarely had problems with JS-Kit before the switch.

Do I stay? Do I go? I've been debating this for months now, and the testing that I've done so far isn't exactly making me run to uninstall.

All the threading, links, avatars, etc. so far will be gone once I revert back to Blogger. All the comments will be out of order most likely then. There's the problem you talked about below with the importing/exporting. There's my issue with the comment counter. There's probably a lot of other issues if I start searching online. Plus what happens if those companies shut down tomorrow? Are our comments just gone?

Disqus seems a little better than ID in some ways, but I hate how it locks up on other people's site when you try to leave a guest post. It always wants you to register, and if you don't it seems to take forever to submit. ID seems to have issues with Blogger. It's all very frustrating, and I seem to be talking myself out of switching just to avoid the hassle.

Maybe I just need to write another tutorial on how to use Echo.

Yes & no. I had a specific issue with comment count not showing on the test site. The guy from ID just told me to reinstall using the template method. I did. It didn't work. Now that you mention the whole export problem, I'm worried about that now as well. At least with Echo, the backup is already there thanks to sync.

I don't think you can export them back with Disqus either but I could be wrong. I think both Disqus & ID only give you an XML file. Like I know what to do with that.

Did you pay the $12 for Echo Live? Is it any better than Echo Free? $12 really isn't that bad. My only real problem with Echo is that, with CL gone, the URL line is gone so people have to know they can click that little arrow next to From to add their URL. Not exactly intuitive, and some people likely get frustrated and leave because all they care about is the link to their blog.

Maybe CommentLuv isn't worth all this hassle.

I went back in my e-mails and found the response from Intense Debate. It was dated November 23rd. At that point they told me "Thanks for getting in contact. Unfortunately we have disabled our blogger importer until we can get the bugs smoothed out. I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration - I know this isn't the answer you were hoping for. "

So.... I couldn't import my past comments to Intense Debate... and the comments I received while I had Intense Debate installed could not be exported to my blog... so they were "lost" unless I put Intense Debate back.

Was that they type of info you were looking for?

I took the Echo off and put the Intense Debate on... and then found out that Intense Debate was having issues with Blogger and couldn't import/export comments properly. So... I went back to Echo.

Sorry if anyone left comments & they disappeared. Somehow the ID widget got put on both this blog and Blogging Bella last night so I had two comment systems going here. Probably not the best idea until Echo comes off.

Anyway, it's now off again until I fix the template to remove Echo. Teaches me to try to do something when I'm half asleep.
