I used to live in a gated community apartment, but I still had my share of people trying to sell magazine and newspaper subscriptions. However, it was nowhere near as much as I have now. I don't know if it was due to the gate, which you could just walk around, or due to the fact that I had to leave the bra on until 11 p.m. because I had to take my dogs on a walk every few hours and was to embarrassed to do so braless.

The only time I've never had too many knocks is when I lived in an apartment complex where you had to go inside to get to your apartment, as opposed to where your door is outside. Of course, then my complex got bought out by the Georgia Baptist Convention literally a week after I signed on the dotted line. They tried to force us out by implementing all these "you can't drink in the halls, you can't do this or that" rules. They even disabled our security bolts because they were turning the place into an old folks home and the disabling was for our "safety."

Anyway, their antics so infuriated me I wanted to go around braless. Heck, I would have gone around shirtless just to stick it to them if I wasn't afraid of being arrested.

That, and I swear they know every single time I lay down to nap because 5 minutes later they let lose their kids. For some reason, every child in the neighborhood ends up in the street directly in front of my house or actually in my yard screaming at the top of their lungs. When I finally give up and get up, they magically go back to their own yards or shut up.

I may have to as well. I just don't want to.

And that's always when it happens, too. Like the woman from the HOA who came to my door twice in a month. Both times I was braless, but the second time I had just finished supper and was about to put the fork in my mouth. By the time she went away, my food was stone cold.

It also always happens when I'm wearing a thin or a white shirt. Always.

Also when I'm napping or showering. If it's not the door, then it's the phone. Sometimes I swear there's a different signal that goes off above my house every time I start to pee because that seems to be the only time anyone ever calls me. Maybe that signal looks like a toilet bowl. IDK.

I wish I was talented enough to make them swing around while I'm standing there. Maybe if my boobs slapped a couple of people a couple of times, they might not come back (the people, not the boobs).

I've come close to that. I have this half bathroom downstairs where if I leave the door open while I'm doing my business, I can still see the TV. It's the only bathroom in the house where I can. Usually I shut the blinds before I do that, but every now and then I'll leave them open because you wouldn't be able to see in unless you stand on the edge of my porch and peek due to how the door opens out. I figure if someone tries to do that, my dogs will let me know and I'll shut the door in time.

Well, so far no one had done that. However, every now and then I'll find out too late that I'm out of toilet paper in that bathroom, and I have to try to make it to the kitchen to grab the paper towels. For obvious reasons, I don't want to pull my pants up in those situations, which would be fine if the blinds were shut, but it always seems to happen when the blinds are open.

So far I don't think anyone has seen my bare butt running (as much as you can run with your pants around your ankles) to the kitchen and back. They could if they looked from the street because the door wouldn't block them then, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the mailman or someone does.

I do wear one until about 5 or 6. That's usually about as long as I can take, although some days I hold out until 8 pm. Sad thing is I've had people knock later than 8. Rude, but they do it.

Murphy's Law definitely. Like washing your car & a few hours later it rains, but if you never wash it you find yourself in a drought.
