Thanks. I wonder if mine was washable and that was the issue? I didn't even think to check. It was just next to the regular Apple Barrel paint but was cheaper and had the colors I needed. Of course, it covered like a $.50 paint. You get what you pay for and then some.

I remember the name from art class. We did something with it in that one class I took that was a little of everything (paint, drawing, sculpture, etc.). I just can't remember what we did with it. Gesso our canvases maybe? Or did I use it for paper mache? I honestly can't remember.

I was trying to get rid of the texture from the old crackle that I did and the stupid paint stripper. I probably should have just built it up like you said instead. I would have been finished weeks ago then.

Funny you should mention trays. While vacuuming, I just remembered that I STILL haven't painted the two wooden trays that I bought my grandmother for her birthday back in February. And here I thought I was done with the craft paint. >:o

build up texture. make a picture or a base for a thicker crackle top,
which you can lace over. yes like victorian style. or feather.then comb.
then put a glass top ontop of the top. with
miniature clear grommets or clear plastic washers.
also if you are in a hurry and like to camo - use a nice
antique tray. it works and gives you another dimension. 8-)

Yeah, I call it the house the Crayola guy threw up in. Comes from one too many years spent in dorm rooms and apartments that I couldn't paint. Also comes from a mother who rewallpapered or repainted every room once every year or two years. The only room in my house that has beige walls is the room with the buffet and chair. Nothing else in there is beige. Technically my sofa set is taupe, but everything around it is color. I figured it was easier to change wall color and throw pillows than chair fabric, so I went with a neutral there.

I used a Black & Decker mouse sander with 3 different contour sander attachments (one was curved out, one inward, and one real skinny) and rough grit sandpaper for close to two hours. It smoothed it out some, but it still wouldn't get the green stripper all the way off. I think NASA ought to consider using the stuff to glue the siding on the space shuttle, that's how strong it is.

Is Dremel that multi-tool one on the infomercial? The one where you can do everything from sanding to cutting up just one square of ceramic tile? If so, I so want that.

Did you try sanding off the green stripper with either an electric sander or Dremel tool? I don't think I would re-do this piece, I think that you're probably the only one who notices the flaws because you worked on it. But a Dremel tool with a sanding bit would handle the curves detail in the legs.

I guess I'd rather have them different heights than not be able to use both lamps. The lamps were my mom's. Before that, I had just the other table & a red lamp. On the right side, I had a chair and another set of dog steps so my dogs could go up. For some reason, Bella won't go up the ones on the left side. My sister let me have the lamps, which is good because I really needed two lamps. The side that was without the lamp tends to be my side of the bed. Bella usually gets the left, but if I stay up reading on the left, she'll fall asleep on the right and I end up tossing and turning.

So now I just admitted that I let my dog dictate where I sleep. Anyway, to use two lamps, I had to have two end tables or figure out how to make the second lamp levitate. Since I don't have the latter super power, I had to buy or make do with what was in the garage. I have a thick memory foam pad on the bed so it's hard to buy anything tall enough anyways so this was probably the best bet.

Mine was only made for the picture, LOL. I only make it if the cable guy is coming AND he has to come in the bedroom.

Actually, I did keep it made for over a year when it was on the market. Now that it's back off, I'm not making it every day, just when I clean.

My whole house is eclectic really. No one style. I bought a living room set once from Rooms to Go (closest as I got to matching) but the coffee table set and lamps ended up being too big for the room so now even that doesn't match. Eclectic is fancy for saying I can't afford matchy matchy, but I'm not sure that I would want matchy matchy even if I could. I like what I like, and honestly I don't care if it always matches. I can always find a way to tie it in.

Actually, I took the decoupage off, or at least I did this time around. Originally, I decoupaged just the top about six years ago and then crackled finished the sides. I got tired of the decoupage really quick. As it turns out, it's a lot harder to take off decoupage than to put it on. I thought I was going to have to redecoupage it at first because it took awhile for the wallpaper remover to work on all that glue. I won't ever decoupage again. Way too hard to change your mind.

Wow, I'm impressed. My last attempt at decoupage involved a box and about a hundred kitten heads I cut out and pasted around the edge. It was . . . pretty stupid looking.

Well it looks pretty damn good from here! I had some unfinished wood side tables - I just slapped some yellow paint on them - I am so not creative - you would have turned them into masterpieces. Umm, you're not planning to spend some time in Philadelphia anytime soon are you?

Thank you. Hopefully I won't have any more anytime soon unless I can find an old desk at Goodwill, the flea market, or the like. I'm tired of the gigantic, laminated one I have now from Office Depot. With my mom's armoire in the room (it's also gigantic), the desk is just too big for the space. My grandmother keeps telling me that I can have my grandfather's old desk to redo, but she won't let me or anyone else clean it out or off. Life of a hoarder, I guess. I'd rather find one at a junk shop somewhere than have to deal with one of her hair-pulling, mental meltdown scenes.
