I Can't Drive Without My iPod

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Yamaha. All opinions are 100% mine.

I had a bit of a panicky moment Monday morning when I got into my car to come back to Atlanta. Somehow the cord to my iPod adapter had gotten hung up on a piece of metal under my car seat. When I yanked it loose, it left a big dent/borderline hole in the part that plugs into the iPod headphone jack. I thought for sure that the wires were damaged beyond repair and, horror of all horrors, I would have to listen to the radio for the next four to five hours. Not that I mind listening to the radio; I don't. There are just parts of Georgia, like the area between Cordele and Perry, where the only radio stations you can pick up are country, gospel, and heavy metal. Those aren't exactly the genres I listen to.

At the time I actually considered taking the dogs and laptop back inside my grandmother's house, going somewhere to buy a new adapter, and postponing my return to Tuesday morning. That was how appalling the idea of driving without my iPod was to me. I would rather spend another night in a house without the basic amenities of life--I wasn't joking about the paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap in the previous post--than four hours in my car flipping through radio stations. It's not the most logical or sanitary of choices, but it was the one that I was potentially faced with.

Luckily for me, with a little jiggling the adapter was able to work. I just have to remember to get another one the next time I go to Walmart, assuming they still sell the tape player kind. I think I saw one at Dollar General once, for half of what I paid for the one I got at Walmart several years ago, but I don't know if it's still there. I guess I'll have to check there as well.

Meanwhile, my iPod will be getting another workout tomorrow. I get to steam clean the whole house because I oh-so-brilliantly, but also oh-so-unknowingly stepped in wet Georgia clay yesterday and tracked it all over my formerly clean carpet. It wasn't one of my finer moments, and it was even less fine when I mistook the clay for blood and checked Bella's rear end for ruptured stitches. Yeah, I was having a dumb brunette day. Now I get to spend Sunday making up for it.

After I'm done, it would be nice to take a long, hot, bubble bath and continue listening to my iPod while cradled in a Yamaha PDX-60.

The PDX-60 is a portable player dock for iPods and iPhones that allows you to charge your iPod while listening to it over the dock's speakers and controlling song selection and volume with a remote control. Can you just imagine sitting in the tub and changing songs on your iPod without ever getting out of the tub and without risking the lifespan of the iPod with a wet finger? I can. It would be a dream.

Right now I have to make do with this reality instead:

Not that I don't love my blinged-out iDog; I do, but its speakers are highly lacking in the volume department. Even on full blast, some songs can barely be heard on the iDog. There is also no remote, and if I forget to turn it off, the dog will bark and yelp until I do. I got enough living, breathing, yelping dogs making me nuts; I don't necessarily need a mechanical one doing the same.

However, I'll have to settle for Mr. Blue and his antics for the time being. The Yamaha PDX-60 retails for $299.95, which is basically what I just paid for my new TV, and I can't afford another big purchase right now. If you can afford one, check out Yamaha's web site and the PDX-60. The latter comes in four colors, including bright pink:

I guess I need to go check and make sure the iPod is fully charged. Otherwise, I'll just use the low battery as a reason to procrastinate tomorrow, and I'm sick of staring at all the orangey-red spots. Then there's the small matter of the Christmas tree and how Bailey seems to think it's a fire hydrant. Dirty carpet--story of my life.
