Thanks to Geico Insurance and Sinuate Media, I finally have some goodies to give away to my readers. Starting today and ending next Wednesday night, April 8, at 11:59 p.m. EST, anyone who leaves a comment on this post will be entered in my Geico Video Parody Campaign Giveaway. On Thursday April 9, I will put all names in a bowl--I don't have a hat--and draw five winners from the pool. Those five lucky people will win a Geico gecko bobble head, as well as a neck rest pillow. Just be sure to leave either your url (you have to wait for CommentLuv to completely load so that the URL field and latest post will show) or your email in your comment so I can get in contact with you after the contest is over. If you're not comfortable leaving that information, you can email me directly by visiting the Contact tab at the top of the page.

In the meantime, enjoy these two Geico video parodies. The first one is a video response to "Mean Kitty-Update on Sparta." If you don't know who Mean Kitty is, just go to YouTube and search for him or for the name Sparta. Even if you're a dog person like me, you'll love Mean Kitty. He even comes with his very own theme song, a song that I actually have on my iPod. Yes, I'm aware that that admission probably makes me a total geek. Blame my nephew. He made me download it. Seriously, he did.
While the talking cats in the response video don't have their own theme song, they more than make up for this oversight with their inherent cuteness. The green gecko isn't so bad himself, LOL.
The next video features the Numa Numa guy. I had never heard of him until this morning, but now he's one of my favorite YouTube personalities. Here he is singing along to an 80's fave, Somebody's Watching Me, with the gecko as his backup dancer. Mr. Numa Numa may never win American Idol, and the gecko probably wouldn't make the cut for So You Think You Can Dance, but they're funny and entertaining nonetheless. Just be forewarned. Once you watch it, the song will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. I have yet to get it out of mine.
Watching these videos, I realize that I really need to get a video camera or a web cam. I've been waiting for someone to do a Mean Doggy followup video, but they never had. If I could catch Bella having one of her panic attacks--she had one last night for an hour because it thundered twice at 3 a.m.--or Bailey heisting his leg on everything I own and then come up with some catchy lyrics, my dogs might have just as big of a following as Sparta and the talking cats.
As for Numa Numa, I kind of sing and dance like that when I'm cleaning. It's the only way I can keep doing it. I could videotape that as well, but then you'd probably never come back to this blog, at least not without a nice pair of earplugs.
