Over a Thousand People Show Up for Federal Job Fair in Atlanta

I had every intention of getting up early this morning and looking at the various online sites for Atlanta jobs, but here it is 2 p.m. and regrettably I still haven't done so. After seeing the local news at lunch, I already know what I'm going to find--slim pickings that have gotten even slimmer since last week. Apparently, the federal government is having some kind of job fair today in downtown Atlanta. The news said that over 1000 people have shown up already. The line of people waiting to fill out an application or hand over their resumes, as of two hours ago, wrapped around the city block twice. Based on the picture above from the AJC, the line has now wrapped around the block a third time. Some of the people had been standing in line since before dawn. I would imagine that, weather permitting--we're under a tornado watch at the moment--many of those same people will still be standing there after dark. While I would love to be standing there with them, I don't know if I have either the stamina, the patience, or the bladder to stand there that long. I do wish them luck. Heck, I wish all of us who are unemployed luck. I think we're going to need it.
