The more I think about selling this house, the more I think about what I'm going to do if I do. Specifically, I've been giving a lot of thought about how I'm going to move. Now that both my mom and my sister have been diagnosed with asthma, I don't really have anyone who can help me load the U-haul. Technically, there's my father, but we're not exactly on speaking terms. Even if we were, the man doesn't have the sense God gave a billy goat, especially when it comes to moving. The last time that he helped me move, he thought wearing Boots was a good idea. I'm not talking about work boots, like those found at WorkBootsUSA.com. Those might have actually been helpful, especially the steel toe component found in a lot of them. Had he dropped my TV, his toes would have at least been protected from the TV and my ire. No, I'm talking about cowboy boots--heavy, leather, doesn't bend very easily, clunks when you go up the stairs, cowboy boots. They weren't the smartest fashion choice ever.
My dad didn't have anyone who could help him last time--I guess all of his "kin folk" had crawled back into the woods to brush their mullets and reapply the duct tape on the seats of their pickup trucks--so I had to hire someone that charged by the hour to help load the truck. Of course, my father wouldn't listen to a word the guy had to say. In my father's world, redneck logic far surpasses a professional mover's experience any day. That's how my brand new computer desk and fish bowl got broken.
I guess I could hire a couple of those guys again. They're cheaper than an actual moving company, and hopefully they'd realize that work boots or sneakers are far better shoe choices than cowboy boots on moving day. I'd be glad to recommend WorkBootsUSA.com to them. The site has an incredible selection of brand-name work boots at affordable prices, including boots by Converse, Danner, Timberland, Wolverine, Belleville, Matterhorn, Bates, Rocky, and Magnum. Ground shipping is free on all orders over $50, and sales tax is only charged on California orders. The movers would be sure to find something that suits them at WorkBootsUSA.com. Considering my family's lack of coordination on my mom's side, I might even need to buy a pair of the reinforced toe boots myself.
Maybe I'm counting my chickens before they hatch. Thanks to the neighborhood, I can't even get someone to get past my front door, let alone to a lawyer's office for closing. I could buy all the work boots, sneakers, and cowboy boots in the world, and it still wouldn't make this neighborhood any more attractive.
