Okay, vent time here. I got a JCPenney's gift card in that Easter basket that my father gave me for Christmas and a $100 check from my grandmother. Of course, both items were pretty much burning a hole in my pocket by the morning of December 26th, so I had to go shopping. Up until last week, I couldn't even begin to tell you the last time I bought an item of clothing that didn't have underwire and a cup size attached to it. Needless to say, with the exception of better, belated Christmas gifts for my dogs, I spent the check and the gift card on some much needed clothes. The good news is that I now have some real clothes to hang in my walk-in closet, not just the pity clothes that I left in there so my closet wouldn't look so bare to potential buyers. The bad news is that, as the majority of the clothing items are colored items, I now have to wash each item separately so as to prevent color bleed in further washings. Thus, my question is this. Why, after all the advances that we have made in science, after all the men that we've put on the moon, after all the diseases that we've found cures for, do we still have to wash our new clothes separately? Are we incapable of coming up with some type of fabric or dye process that doesn't bleed all over everything else in the washing machine? Can't we find some way to conserve water, our time, and our clothes?
Seeing as I'm about to start load number 10 or so, I'd assume that the answer to all three questions is a big, fat, color-bleeding, "NO!"
