We Have to Go Back, Kate. We Have to Go Back.

Do you remember when Jack first said those words two season finales ago, and a little light bulb went off in your head as you realized that the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 had been flashing forward the entire episode, not backwards like they had been doing since Season 1? Me, too. You'd think that the Oceanic Six would have made it back by now, but you know those powers that be. They love to drag things out. Consequently, here we are two years later on the show, and they're still using that tag line on the Lost previews, which, in turn, means that I'm still doing my soap opera rendition of it. (I put a lot of quiver into my voice when uttering the line during the commercials.)

I'm super excited for tonight's premiere, although I'm a little frustrated at the length of the show's hiatus every year. I pretty much forget everything that has happened on the show by the time January or February rolls around, which isn't good when you watch a blink-and-you-miss-it show like Lost. Maybe that is TPTB's intent. They want us to be as lost as the survivors, in which case they're doing a really good job.

My only complaint is that the premiere is up against Criminal Minds. This time last year I would have been happy that the show no longer aired against CSI and had returned to it's original time slot. That's because last year I didn't watch Criminal Minds. Now I do, which means I have to choose between watching Shemar Moore doing his weekly running-after-the-suspect-in-a-tight-gray-T-shirt sequence and Sawyer doing pretty much the same thing in the jungle. Thank God for VCRs, right?

My cable company's little blurb about tonight's episode says that the Oceanic Six are going to have to carry a deceased Locke around with them as they rally the troops. (I'm paraphrasing a little. I'm too lazy to get up and quote the exact language.) Is anybody else thinking Weekend at Bernie's? I am. Maybe Jack and Ben will slap an ugly Hawaiian shirt and some big sunglasses on Locke. If nothing else, at least tonight's episode should provide a few chuckles in that regard.
