This Couch Potato is Tired of Being a Bed Potato

I just got through watching Criminal Minds on the upstairs futon, eating a late lunch as I did so, and I realized that it's a blessing in disguise that the downstairs DVD player won't play the unfinalized DVD-R disc. Why? Well, as usual, I couldn't make it through an entire meal without dropping part of the food on me. Luckily, the food only made it onto my lap and not the futon, or I'd be washing the futon cover tonight in addition to my jeans. That being said, I was glad that, had the falling chunks of Lean Cuisine panini landed on the stretchy, blue fabric, I at least had the ability to wash it. The same can't be said for my Couch.

My couch and I have what you might call a love-hate relationship. I love its design and the way it sits. I just hate the fabric, and apparently the fabric hates me right back. The Sofa's fabric, once an unblemished, stain-repellant, taupe-colored microfiber suede, now seems to stain if you look at it too long. Seriously, I don't know how else to explain where all the spots are coming from, as the dogs and I rarely sit on it. We do most of our TV watching and playing upstairs. It's the only way I know how to keep the downstairs looking nice while my house is on the market.

I'd love to go into a store, look at new couches, and dream about a replacement, but I can't. The stores' salespeople won't let you. Even if you tell them that you're just looking, they follow you around the store, ready to pounce on their commission should you ever give them even the slightest hint that one could be forthcoming. I can't stand that mentality. It's why I bought the stained eyesore online to begin with, and it's why I'm doing my sofa daydreaming online now.

The couch currently occupying my furniture daydreams is this sectional from BuyCouchesOnline.com:

I love the modern lines of it, plus the fact that it comes with its own built in end tables. I had the worst time ever trying to find end tables that fit both my sofa and my living room when I bought this house. The end tables that came with it were too big for the space and were topped in glass. Every time someone came to the door, my dogs would climb on top of the glass and bark. It was an impalement waiting to happen. I ended up switching them out for a much smaller, glass-free set from my local Target. Technically, they're too small in scale for my current sofa, especially the coffee table, but they were the best that I could do at the time.

In addition to the modern lines of the sectional, I love the fabric--leather. Unlike microfiber suede, you can wipe off leather when you spill something on it, and, assuming that you act fast enough, the stain is gone. Furthermore, so long as you keep your pets' toenails trimmed, leather also tends to be more animal friendly.

BuyCouchesOnline.com sells more than just leather Sofas; it sells a variety of great looking fabric sofas as well, like this one covered in Verona earth fabric:

If I could somehow manage to stop missing my mouth and teach my two dogs not to drool, this sectional would replace the leather one above as my favorite. Unfortunately, I don't think scientists have figured out a way to surgically alter either the messy or the clumsy gene so this sectional will probably never grace my living room.

Speaking of drool, if BuyCouchesOnline.com's selection doesn't cause you to do just that, its discounted prices and deals on shipping just might. While it may be hard to believe, BuyCouchesOnline.com's couches ship free in the continental U.S., regardless of weight. I can't even get the book club that I'm a member of to ship my books for free, and they don't weigh much more than a throw pillow. With the exception of California, the sofas are also sold tax-free in the continental U.S., a practice that only adds to the site's great savings.

Low prices. Free shipping. No taxes. No pushy salespeople. Now all I need is a job and a decent paycheck, and the dogs and I can go back to being couch potatoes. Bed potatoes, futon potatoes, and desk chair potatoes just don't have the same ring.
