You probably won't see many posts from me today. I plan on being glued to the TV to watch the inauguration. It's the first time in a really long time, if ever, that I have wanted to watch the festivities, not to mention the first time that I have ever been excited about them. Part of my excitement stems from the historical nature of today. The United States, once known for oppression, racism, and slavery, will now be led by an African-American president. How great is that? Another part comes from the fact that a Democrat is finally back in the Oval Office after eight long years. (No offense, my Republican readers.) Mostly, I'm excited because Obama is the first president in a long time that I like to listen to. When he speaks about change, I actually believe him. I know that it's pretty naive of me to do so, especially considering that he really can't change anything without Congress being behind him, but I still want to believe that he can, which is why I won't be changing the channel for once. If you knew me and the way I watch TV, that says a lot.Tuesday, January 20, 2009
Happy Inauguration Day
