What's up with General Hospital? Seriously, I watched it today for the first time in a week or more, and it quickly became clear that TPTB are about to break up Nadine and Nikolas so as to pave the way for Emily's return. I know that I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm not too happy about that fact. I like Nadine. She's quirky and interesting, and I half expect her to go crazy at any moment like her sister in the coma. In my opinion, a crazy Nadine would fit right in with the Cassadines. Remember how Gia used to call Helena Cassadine "Psycho Granny"? Well, she and Nurse Crazy could have tea.Emily on the other hand...What can I say about her other than, "Blah?" Not much. Sure, she's sweet and all, but sweet on soap operas equals boring. The most interesting thing that she's ever done on the show is sleep with Sonny, and even that was blah. If AJ was to come back from the dead along with her and drive her head into the tree like he did Jason's, thus causing Emily to wake up as someone who is slightly brain-damaged and has issues with impulse control, I might could get behind her return. However, if the only difference in Emily is the new, shorter haircut, then I can't. I'm just back to blah, blah, blah.
And so now Robin has post partum depression? Boo-hoo. And she's taking medical advice from Jason, who can't even remember being in med school? Well, that just makes her an idiot, not depressed. When TPTB did the post partum story with Carly, it was interesting. It gave Carly's character a little more depth, but Robin already has depth. Did TPTB miss the whole "Stone dying from AIDS" storyline? Or how about the "my parents, the superspies, were supposedly murdered and left me alone to be raised my uncle, the former mercenary turned police commissioner" storyline? Yeah, Robin has character in spades.
And why are they still pushing the Shawn-Douglas/Belle Brady reunion? Did they learn nothing from the other failed Days reunion known as Catherine and Stefan/Kayla and Patch? GH fans don't like it when another show's supercouple is shoved down their throats, just with different names. This particular fan also wants the geek to finally get the girl. Why does Spinelli have to be pushed to the side just so Days fans have somewhere to go?
And here we go again with the whole "let's blow up or burn down some part of Port Charles just before sweeps season begins" storyline. It's getting old, and considering how many parts of Port Charles have been damaged in past sweep seasons, there shouldn't be any of the town left.
