Doing Time on Social Networking Drive

I think today is my fourth official day as an Entrecard member, and I can definitely say that it's a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be, if not a little addicting. I have only managed to drop about fifteen cards each day that I have been a member of the site because I'm actually trying to read the blogs as I go. I have heard about other people who drop around 200 cards a day. I don't know how they're doing it. I could sit here all day and still not drop that many. I suspect that these people are not reading the blogs that they drop. Instead, they're probably just going to the blog's home page, hitting "drop" on the widget, and then moving on to the next blog on the list. I guess in a way their method works. They get more visitors to their own site, assuming that the people who they drop cards on drop them back. Nevertheless, I think that they're missing the whole point. Blogs are supposed to be read, not clicked on and clicked off.

I'll admit that I'm a little envious of some of the blogs. There are some really funny people out there, and their blogs seem to reflect that humor. Unfortunately, my own sense of humor leans towards sarcasm, and that doesn't always translate well on paper, let alone on a computer screen. Sure, I could add LOL after every funny line, but after awhile all that LOL'ing would make me want to run to my nearest courthouse and change my name to LOLA. I'm also envious of the deep thought bloggers, the ones whose posts read like a philosophical text book. I can't remember the last time that my thoughts went any deeper than what I was going to fix for lunch or how I was going to get that funky odor out of the kitchen sink.

I'm further amazed at the variety of blogs on Entrecard. I even saw a few law firms with blogs on the list. I guess it doesn't matter if you're a business or an individual. If you want to get your name out there these days, online social networks are the way to go. Take businessman and attorney Jon M. Queen of Vienna, Austria, for example. He is a member of both Ziggs and Facebook. However, he's not your garden-variety litigator or general practitioner. Instead, lawyer Jon Queen is a finance and legal analyst who is an expert in transactional matters including trading, credit enhancement, insurance, and project finance. Know more about business loan financing through Jon Queen at Facebook.

While Jon Queen may be ready for Facebook, I don't know if I am quite yet. I'm pretty sure that they want you to put a photo of your face on your profile page, or else they would have named the site after some other body part. Right now, neither my hair nor my face is liking me very much, and I'm not liking them in return. Thus, unless a surprise, reality-show makeover happens anytime soon, I'm not about to play "America's Next Top Model" with my camera phone. I'd rather just go back to hiding behind my Yahoo Avatar, dropping cards, and inviting other bloggers to be my friend. The question is, "Whose blog do I visit next?"
