Yippee! I Finally Broke Through My Writer's Block

I don't know how I did it, but I managed to churn out 32 pages of fan fic last night and post it on FanFiction.net and Saving Sara Sidle. Granted, I didn't write the 32 pages in one sitting, but I did manage to finish the chapter. It only took me what--a month, a month and a half--to finish it? It's mostly dialogue, a dream sequence, and a long flashback, but at least it's something. I haven't gotten a lot of reviews back on it yet, probably because I posted it at 4 a.m. this morning, but hopefully people will like it. It's not quite as angsty as my other chapters, and it doesn't move the storyline along that much, but I think it manages to fill in a few blanks.

I just hope that the dreaded wall around the creative parts of my brain stays down long enough for me to write a few more chapters. I want to get to the parts of the story that have been in my mind for some time now, the big, dramatic scenes that will allow me to end each chapter with a cliffhanger so that people will want to check back for more. The problem is, in order to get to those parts, I have to get past all the emotional stuff between Sara, Grissom,Connor, and Ava and possibly even between Catherine and Warrick first. Otherwise, the drama at the end of the story will get overshadowed by all of their baggage.

I think what I'm going to do is try to write the chapter after next. The ideas that I have for it are also fresh in my mind. Then I'm going to go back and write the chapter in between so that the next time I post, I'll be posting two chapters instead of one. I'm scared if I do it the other way around--that is, if I write the chapters sequentially--I'll get stuck again, and it'll be another month or two before I post. Even worse, I'm scared that it's going to take me another year to finish the story. As ridiculous as it may sound, I've been working on it for ten months now. I don't know if I can make it another ten. If I do, maybe I'll at least make the Guinness Book of World Records for Longest Fan Fic Ever. Do they give out actual monetary gifts for that, or do you just get a free copy of the book? At this point, I wouldn't turn down either one.
