I would buy a new printer. I know. I know. A new printer isn't all that exciting, and you're probably thinking that I would prefer a nice Prius to replace the Redneck Mobile, a shiny, new MacBook, a freezer full of groceries, or even a lottery ticket. I admit that all of those things would be nice, but right now I would settle for a new printer. Mine is on the fritz again. Before I go to bed tonight, I'm going to have to uninstall the driver for my Hewlett-Packard all-in-one printer and reinstall it for the 100th time, just so I can work on resumes this weekend. Apparently, the print driver got corrupted again because I was out of Hewlett-Packard all-in-one, 22 lb. printer paper and used cheaper, 20 lb., copy paper instead. The printer won't pick up the lightweight paper, not without me hitting "continue" every time the "printer is out of paper" message appears on my screen. After a few hits, my computer will say that the printer is disconnected, even though it is still plugged in. Sometimes I can trick the computer by unplugging the printer from the computer and the outlet and then plugging it back in. Sometimes I can't. Today is a can't kind of day. Thus, I'm going to have to reinstall the driver. Believe me when I say that reinstallation is not a five minute task. If it was, I wouldn't be so mad.
I noticed when I was grocery shopping the other day that Wal-mart has all-in-one printers for $30. If I had had the money and known whether the printer would accept 20 lb. paper, I would have bought it on the spot. Unfortunately, I didn't have the money or the knowledge at the time. I guess I'm going to have to add "new printer" to my Christmas list as well, right next to more RAM and another iTunes gift card.
