Dante Falconeri Corinthos? Seriously?

Sometimes I wonder what is in the minds of the writers at General Hospital. People have been speculating for weeks that Spinelli is the long-lost child of one of the Falconeri cousins and Sonny Corinthos. I was one of those people. In my opinion, such a plot twist would have made the show a lot more interesting. I would have loved to watch Sonny having to deal with Spinelli on a daily basis and actually trying to bond with Port Charles's favorite cyber-geek, but did the writers go that route? Uh, not unless Spinelli's real name is Damian Dante Spinelli. I doubt it is. Otherwise, wouldn't he have told his mother, "Hello," at the wedding?

As for the choice of the name Dante, does anyone else see the irony in it? In Dante's Inferno, Dante had to travel through nine circles of hell to find redemption. Sonny is currently in his own self-made hell because of what happened to Michael. Does the choice in names mean that Dante will be Sonny's way out of hell? Yes, I know I'm reading way to much into a soap name. If I want to get all symbolic, that would mean that Jagger likes to hurt or metaphorically stab people, Stone couldn't show his emotions, Frisco was from San Francisco, and Epiphany is full of all worldly knowledge. For all I know, Dante is just a trendy name at the moment.

At least the writers have come up with one good storyline, the upcoming one with Vincent Pastore, a.k.a. Big Pussy, from The Sopranos. He is set to arrive in Port Charles any day now as Max and Milo's father. I'm interested to see how that storyline is going to all play out. First of all, will TPTB drop little references to The Sopranos, the way they've done with other characters who came from well known shows? Remember how Sonny got Ray Deluca a fake ID with the name Cruz Castillo, A Martinez's character's name on Santa Barbara? Or how when Ned saw Jenny in labor at the hospital, she told him that Paul was in Savannah? At the time, Paul Satterfield was on the TV show Savannah. Then there was the time that Felicia was talking about the hot doctor on Melrose Place. Guess who was on Melrose at the time? That's right. Jack Wagner, a.k.a. Felicia's ex husband, Frisco Jones.

Second, I want to know if Jason will agree to help Max and pretend that Max, not Jason, is the new godfather of Port Charles. According to yesterday's episode, Max told his father that he was the one running the mob. That's why he was getting drunk in Jason's office. I also want to know if Diane will go along with the ploy as well. Even if she doesn't, the storyline should provide a few laughs to counteract all the angsty, Kate's in the hospital and it's all Sonny's fault stuff that has been dominating the show lately. Considering tomorrow is D-day for CSI and Warrick Brown, I'll take all the laughs that I can get.
