I guess that I'm finally going to have to vote this week. No, I'm talking about early voting in the presidential race. I mean for Dancing with the Stars. I used to vote all the time, but after awhile, I just got out of the habit. After tonight's episode, I'm going to have to get back in the habit. My favorite dancer, Brooke Burke, had an injured foot and consequently didn't dance quite as strongly as usual. My second favorite, Lance Bass, did better, but sometimes better can count against you, especially if you assume that everyone else is already voting for that person and cast your votes elsewhere. My third favorite, Cloris Leachman, got the lowest scores of the night and a very nasty comment from Carrie Anne Inaba. The woman actually looked sad and acted rather subdued backstage when she got her scores. That's not the old lady we all know and love.Yes, I know Cloris isn't a great dancer, but she does the best she can for a woman her age. Plus, she's funny. Carrie Anne may want to get her Fly Girl panties in a wad because Toni Braxton, a technically better dancer than Cloris, left last week, but Dancing with the Stars is not a dancing contest. It's a popularity contest, just like American Idol. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't quite grasped the concept of reality TV. When it comes down to it, Toni Braxton may be a better dancer, but Cloris Leachman is a better entertainer. I'm sorry, but Toni wearing a grill and an outfit that looks like it was worn last in a Fresh Prince or Beastie Boys video is nowhere near as funny as an 82-year-old woman wearing the same thing. When Cloris leaves, the humor goes with her, and then Dancing with the Stars becomes just another talent/popularity show on TV.
Okay, I'm off to vote. I'll update the post picture as soon as ABC posts tonight's pictures online.
